What's New at Eisenhower Elementary

Eisenhower Students Win the District Battle of the Books!

Battle of the Books 2018 19 (1)5th Grade students formed five-member teams and worked for several months to read the Iowa Childrens’ Choice Award nominees for this year. At the Eisenhower School Battle, we had nine participating teams who were all very excited about reading and well-prepared. At the Battle, teams answered questions about the ICCA books that they have read and studied. It was a very close competition and spectators were on the edge of their seats!  The winning team at Eisenhower included Maura, Molly, Alex, Bella, and Ryder. This team went on to compete in the District Battle of the Books on May 17 that was also held at Eisenhower School.

The winning team from each elementary school came to Eisenhower on May 17 to compete in the District Battle of the Books. There was fierce competition during this Battle and it came down to a sudden-death round between Bryant and Eisenhower!  After many rounds with a tie score, Eisenhower emerged as the winner of the district Battle!  Congratulations to the awesome Eisenhower team on all of their hard work this year!

Thank You PTO!

Students with new books in the Eisenhower libraryThanks to the PTO for all of their support at Eisenhower School this year! We were able to purchase books for all grade levels with the money from the Scholastic Book Fair to enhance our library collection. We also used “Class Cash” to purchase additional STEAM-based activities for the Maker Space in the library, new Digital Citizenship books, materials for our library labeling project and and technology supplies. Thanks so much for all of your support!
